Introduction to Ayurveda: Yoga for your Constitution
Ayurveda traditions are a type of complementary or alternative medicine. For thousands of years Ayurveda was the world’s most sophisticated and powerful mind-body health care. More than a mere system of treating illness, Ayurveda is a science of life (Ayur = life, Veda = science or knowledge). It offers a body of wisdom designed to help people stay vibrant and healthy while realizing their full human potential.
Ayurveda, yoga’s sister science, is a 6,000-year-old holistic practice centering around the concept of finding and maintaining perfect balance. In this introduction to Ayurveda, you’ll be introduced to the history of Ayurveda and the various ways Ayurvedic knowledge can be used to enhance your daily life. An emphasis will be placed on understanding the elements as they apply to Ayurveda and combine to form individual constitutions- one’s unique elemental composition. Each participant will have their constitution determined and we’ll discuss yoga poses, food and topical oils to help restore and maintain spiritual, mental and physical balance. 3 - hour workshop
