Yin yoga is sometime called the other half of yoga - the cooling complement to a Yang practice commonly associated with a more vigorous flow or vinyasa practice where we generate heat.
Yin yoga targets the deep connective tissues between the muscles, and the fascia throughout the body. The aim is to increase flexibility and circulation mainly in the joints. It also helps us to regulate the body's flow of energy.
Classes consist of a series of long-held, and appropriately sequenced passive floor poses. Along with physically beneficial outcomes, a yin practice provides enough space for subtlety, meditation and introspection.
This series will feature some wall techniques and hands-on assists.
